Delete your Acara account

This page explains how to request deletion of your Acara account and the data associated with it. It applies to the Acara platform and to the Acara mobile apps published by Acara, including Acara Check-in and Acara Leads.

How to request account deletion

Send an email to from the address registered to your Acara account.
Email hello@acara.io
Email hello@acara.io
Include the following in your request:
  1. Use Account deletion request as the subject line.
  2. State your full name and the email address of the account you want deleted.
  3. Tell us which product you use: the Acara platform, Acara Check-in, or Acara Leads.
  4. Send the request from the account email address so we can verify it belongs to you. If you no longer have access to that mailbox, we will ask you for other information to confirm your identity.
We acknowledge every request within 10 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days of verifying your identity. Once the account is deleted it cannot be restored, and you will lose access to any events, tickets, and content linked to it.

Data that is deleted

When your request is completed, we permanently delete the following from our production systems:
  • Your account profile: name, email address, phone number, job title, company, and profile photo.
  • Your event data: registrations, tickets, attendance history, session bookmarks, messages, and networking connections.
  • Data you created in the mobile apps: check-in records you performed and leads you scanned and qualified under your account.
  • App and device data: saved preferences, session tokens, and push notification identifiers.
  • Marketing data: newsletter subscriptions and communication preferences.
  • Analytics identifiers that are linked to you as an identifiable user.

Data that is kept, and for how long

Some records cannot be deleted immediately because we are legally required to keep them or need them to protect our legitimate interests:
  • Encrypted backups still contain your data after deletion. Backups are rotated and permanently erased within 90 days, and they are never used to restore a deleted account.
  • Invoices, payment and tax records are retained for up to 7 years, or longer where accounting and tax law requires it.
  • Records needed for legal claims, such as evidence of a dispute, fraud, abuse, or a breach of our terms, are retained for as long as the claim or the applicable limitation period lasts.
  • Aggregated and anonymised statistics are retained indefinitely. This data no longer identifies you and cannot be linked back to your account.

Data held by event organisers

If you registered for an event run by an organiser using Acara, that organiser is a separate data controller for the information you gave them. Deleting your Acara account does not delete the copies they hold in their own systems, so please contact the organiser directly for those. Where the organiser stores that data inside Acara, we delete it on their instruction.
